A PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

See the transformation.

Input

{"status":"ready","items":[1,2,3]}

Output

Valid JSON. No syntax errors found.

How to use JSON Validator

  1. Paste JSON; validation runs after a short pause.
  2. Use Validate to check immediately.
  3. If an error appears, use the reported line and column to fix the original input.

Fix a trailing comma in JSON

For example, {"items":[1,2,]} is invalid because a comma must be followed by another value. Remove the final comma to produce the valid input below. Validation reports syntax errors; it does not decide whether a field is appropriate for your application.

Input

{"items":[1,2]}

Output

Valid JSON. No syntax errors found.

Common problems and how to fix them

A property name or string is rejected

Use double quotes, not single quotes. Escape a double quote inside a string with a backslash, and represent a newline inside a string as \n rather than an actual line break.

The error points after the actual mistake

A parser reports where it can no longer read valid syntax. Inspect that position and the preceding value for a missing comma, closing quote, or bracket. Line and column numbers start at 1.

Valid JSON still fails in my application

Syntax validation does not check required fields, field types, or JSON Schema. Use your application’s schema validator for those requirements; repeated object keys also need separate review.

Limitations and supported input

Checks JSON syntax, not JSON Schema or application-specific rules. Duplicate object keys are accepted by the underlying parser. Error wording may vary by browser; when no position is available, a location is not invented.

Files must be UTF-8 text and no larger than 10 MiB. Very deep or complex documents may exceed the 15-second processing limit. JSON numbers use JavaScript precision; keep long identifiers as strings.

Your data stays on your device

All parsing and conversion happens in a local browser worker. Your input is not sent to a server or saved in browser storage. Closing or reloading the page clears this workspace. Read our privacy explanation.

GOOD TO KNOW

A little clarity.

Simple tools. Straight answers.

Does it validate against a schema?

No. This tool checks JSON syntax only.

Is my input changed on an error?

No. Your original text stays in the input panel so you can correct it.
